Hello all
I hope this is the right place to post this.
I have recently made the switch to Plex and I love it.
My issue is that my library is inconsistent with years of files and some improperly encoded files.
I mostly have MKV and MP4
What I run into (with is total hit or miss) is that my Dish system will see the file and allow me to start playing it but then tell me that it cannot play the file (This file cannot be played).
That would make total sense if the file were encoded badly and the unit cannot decipher it.
I have tried every setting I can think of and What I think might resolve the issus is if Plex was forced to Trans code every video file it was told to play. This way the device would only have to deal with the trans coded data and not the encoding of the original file.
Is there anything that can be done to force plex to trans code all? Regardless.
My server has plenty of power to handle this.
Re-encoding the files to new formats has proven messy with inconsistent results. I don't want to go that route.
This would solve the problem with AVI's as well... all AVI's would be trans coded automatically allowing them to play.
