Plex app on TV does not connect to local server

Hi,

I have a Plex server running on my Ubuntu desktop (192.168.1.100) which I have connected to my Plex account. I can browse/play my media by visiting https://app.plex.tv/web/app on my laptop. However when I start Plex on my TV[1] and sign in to my account it can't connect to the server (see http://i.imgur.com/h9V22M4.jpg )

What I tried-

• If I enable remote access in the server settings, the TV app connects to the server but shows it as "Remote" and hence it always loads photos in very low quality (and videos never play).

• I added http://MY_PUBLIC_IP:32400 to Custom server access URLs but the TV still doesn't show that its attempting to connect to this IP (I've forwarded the port using the router interface)

• I added 192.168.1.23 (the TV IP) to List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth in the server settings.

The TV and the desktop are in the same network/subnet (192.168.1.0/24). The TV shows up in Devices as-
